Meet John Robinson
President/CEO
My career began in the UK in 1987 when, at the age of 16, I signed my first professional contract/agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion. At this time, the team was at the height of their success in the top Division of the League (Championship).
I joined Charlton Athletic in 1992 and spent the next eleven years playing for the club. During his career with Charlton the team was promoted twice, to the English Premiership. Charlton became the League Champions in the season 2000 to 2001, and in the season 2002 to 2003 we finished 7th place in the English Premiership, the club’s highest position to date, in the top division in England.
In September, 2003 I left Charlton Athletic and spent one season playing for Cardiff City. After this period I felt the need to spend more time with my growing family and retired from professional football in 2004. I was 33 years old.
Throughout my professional career I played over 500 games in the top two English Divisions.
My International Career began during his time at Brighton and Hove when he was chosen to pay for Wales in the under twenty one team. Terry Yorath, gave me my senior debut in a European Championship game against Poland.
Over my eight year career in the senior International team I had the opportunity to play with some of the greatest footballers of the decade including Mark Hughes (Manchester United, Barcelona & Chelsea), Neville Southall (Everton & Stoke), Ian Rush (Liverpool),John Hartson (Arsenal, West Ham & Celtic), Chris Coleman (Fulham), Mark Bowen (Tottenham, West Ham & Charlton), Gary Speed (Leeds, Everton & Newcastle), Dean Saunders ( Liverpool & Aston Villa), Craig Bellamy ( Liverpool, West Ham & Manchester City) and his room mate of 6 years, Ryan Giggs (Manchester United).
During my International career I played in a number of World Cup and European Championship qualifying matches playing against countries that included Holland, Italy, Brazil, Argentina, Portugal and Denmark to name but a few.
Playing against this caliber of team allowed me the opportunity to play against some of the world’s greatest players including Berkamp, Seedorf,(Holland), Ronaldo, Cafu, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos,(Brazil) Baggio, Maldini(Italy) Raul,(Spain) Keane,(Republic Of Ireland) Crespo(Argentina), Schemichael(Denmark), and Figo(Portugal) to name a few.
After a very successful and fulfilling career as a professional footballer I now have the opportunity to train and inspire young footballers through my own Soccer School. Formed in 1996 the club grew to become one of the biggest in Sussex with between 750 and 1000 children attending over a four week period.
I was also the Head of Football and resident football coach at Newlands Independent Day and Boarding Private School in Seaford, East Sussex. He was awarded the PFA Prelimary Coaching Badge/qualification in 1988 and took up my position at the school in 2004. For three years I spent a very enjoyable and rewarding time coaching students between the ages of 6 and 18.
I then brought his soccer school to Southwest Florida. John serves as head coach at Canterbury School in Fort, Myers Florida.
